What is BIPGU?

The biblioteca de Investigadores de la Provincia de Guadalajara (BIPGU), dependent on the Provincial Council of Guadalajara, is a center specialized in provincial bibliography. Due to the nature of the works that it gathers, it is an unbeatable center for bibliographic documentation on the province, at the same time that it also fulfills the function of auxiliary library of the Archive of the Provincial Council and the Center for Photography and the Historical Image of Guadalajara (CEFIHGU)

Along with the Bibliographic collections, the BIPGU has the personal archives of two important 20th century intellectuals linked to the province, the provincial chronicler Don Fco Layna Serrano and the writer Don José Herrera Soler 'Petere'; donated to the Provincial Council in 1971 and 2003 respectively.
